About Me
My Approach to Counseling
Hello, I’m Amanda Yi, a Graduate Counseling Intern currently completing my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Texas A&M University–Victoria. I serve individuals, couples, and families in-person in Victoria, Texas and through telehelath across Texas. I am passionate about providing compassionate, client-centered support in a safe and welcoming space where individuals and families feel heard, respected, and understood.
I provide counseling services under the supervision of Maggie Aguilera, LPC-S, and my work is grounded in empathy, collaboration, and evidence-based practices, while honoring each client’s unique story, values, and goals.
I have a special interest in supporting individuals and families navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and major life transitions.
I am particularly passionate about supporting caregivers and families of children with autism, ADHD, and other developmental differences. I also work with couples navigating emotional strain and life stressors. I understand how overwhelming these experiences can be, and I strive to create a space where clients feel supported rather than judged.
Many of the indiviudals and families I work with are navigating the emotional challenges that come with caregiving, parenting, and balancing the many responsibilities of daily life.
As both a counselor-in-training and a parent, I bring a deep respect for the realities of balancing mental health, family life, and personal growth. I value building strong therapeutic relationships and walking alongside my clients as they develop insight, resilience, and confidence.
My goal is not to “fix” you, but to partner with you as you work toward greater clarity, emotional well-being, and meaningful change. Therapy is a collaborative process, and I am honored to be part of each client’s journey.
When you work with me, you can expect warmth, authenticity, professionalism, and a genuine commitment to your growth.
My approach to counseling is collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in evidence-based practices.
In our work together, you can expect counseling to be:
Collaborative - We work together to understand your experiences and identify meaningful goals.
Client-Centered - Your values, strengths, and personal story guide the direction of therapy
Strengths-Based - Counseling focuses on building resilience and recognizing the strengths you already have.
Evidence-Informed - Strategies and techniques are drawn from research-supported counseling approaches.
