It’s completely normal to feel unsure about starting therapy, especially if it’s your first time seeking support. Many people begin counseling simply because they want a space to talk openly about what they are experiencing. The first session is an opportunity to ask questions, share what has been going on, and decide together whether counseling feels like a good fit for your needs.
-
No diagnosis is required to begin counseling. Many individuals seek therapy to better understand their emotions, navigate life changes, improve relationships, or develop coping skills. Counseling is a space for support and personal growth, not just for addressing a specific diagnosis.
-
The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and discuss what brings you to counseling. We may talk about current challenges, personal history, and what you hope to gain from therapy. This conversation helps create a plan that supports your goals and ensures that counseling feels comfortable and collaborative.
